BEETHOVEN’S FOUR SEASONS – SPRING/SUMMER - VICTORIA RIVERA
About this item
The recycling process consists of turning waste into new materials and objects. Therefore, we can see that it’s a transformation, a change that occurs in an infinity of ways between pre and post recycling. During this transformation process we are in the presence of waste materials destined to be trash turned into new materials, which can be used to serve a new purpose. This represents a real treasure, specially, because of all the environmental benefits it provides.
In fashion, what’s left behind after a seasonal change is not necessarily trash or waste materials nor does it have a negative connotation. However, they do represent change and we are always looking forward to the next season due to the expectations, the dreams and projects that it entails ... it’s truly a treasure because it’s part of the joy and excitement to live life with all that it may bring us in the future.
In temperate regions, four seasons are recognized based on the Gregorian calendar: spring, summer, fall, and winter. We see these seasons present in the following garments, which were conceived while listening to classical music (Vivaldi's Four Season among the repertoire, one of my favorite pieces). I have before me, all the scraps of my first two collections:
1.Spring and Summer Coat: the front of the coat and its sleeves (Summer) are made with test pieces of the Festive Pelican textile from the Fauna & Flora Collection. The back of the coat (Spring) is made with scraps of the aforementioned Festive Pelican textile.
Materials: Test pieces and scraps of previous collections.
