WiNE International Women's Day 2025
The Women In North East Network are thrilled to launch our annual online Charity Art Auction, revealing an original work generously donated by local artist Talitha ‘Tilly’ Annuscheit.
Titled ‘Together, United’,
‘This painting represents the strength, unity, and resilience of women as they come together to create a more equal future.
At its heart, a circle holds the figures of women standing in solidarity, symbolising their collective growth and shared journey. Within the circle, a thin wavy line signifies the ripple effect of their actions, spreading change throughout their communities.
Surrounding this, broken white lines evoke the ongoing work of women—like stitching or weaving—reflecting their dedication and the threads of connection they continue to strengthen.
The larger circles in the background, each containing smaller circles, represent the diverse meeting places and towns of North East Victoria, where these women live, gather, and uplift one another.
Footprints and a flowing wavy line in the background symbolise the journey, while the blue line represents the rivers and waterways that weave through the region. Water holds deep cultural significance for Indigenous women, embodying healing and renewal—just as these women are engaged in healing and strengthening their communities.
Gum leaves feature prominently, honouring the presence of gum trees throughout North East Victoria. They also represent cleansing and renewal, as gum leaves are traditionally used in smoking ceremonies to purify and protect.
Purple has long been associated with the women’s rights movement and is one of the official colours of International Women’s Day, symbolising justice, dignity, and resilience. In this artwork, the use of purple reinforces the global movement towards gender equality while also representing the strength and determination of women in North East Victoria. It serves as a unifying colour, acknowledging the progress made and the work still to be done in accelerating action for a more equal future.
Through these interconnected elements, this artwork celebrates the power of women, their cultural connections, and their ongoing work to create lasting change.’
