Description: A simple vibrant cutting from my garden painted from life, the northern light accentuating its spectacular colour. Ixora Coccinea, also known as Coral Fire, is a low maintenance, hardy, tropical shrub that attracts butterflies and bees and blooms all year round.
About the Artist
Rebecca Davis is artist based in Brisbane working across painting, drawing, printmaking, collage and mixed media. In 2025, Rebecca won the Sylvia Jones Prize for Women Artists at the Brisbane Portrait Prize. Rebecca was also a finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Prize, was Highly Commended in the Kennedy Prize, People’s Choice Winner in the Dean Cogle Portrait Prize and a finalist in the Lethbridge Small Scale Art Award. She completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of South Australia in 1989 and a Diploma in Visual Communication in 2002 at Design College Australia in Brisbane. She won the Adelaide Fringe poster competition in 2024 and exhibited in the Brisbane Portrait Prize Salon des Refusés in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
