Virtual PolishFestNY 2020 Silent Auction
Welcome to the Virtual PolishFestNY On-Line Silent Auction, where you can have fun supporting Polish culture and the missions of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Czestochowa Parish!
When the Capital Region’s largest Polish festival announced that it would be cancelling its 18th annual event due to the COVID-19 virus, there was disappointment all around. PolishFest has become an important regional event, showcasing an unexpectedly diverse selection of Slavic food, music, dance art, historical presentations, and literature. The congregation of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Czestochowa Polish National Catholic Church, which relies on proceeds of the festival for the mission of their parish, was also disheartened.
A few inspired souls decided to make an online PolishFest happen. Susan Gorga Matala, who holds leadership positions in many Polish cultural organizations, was instrumental in encouraging PolishFest’s longtime Cultural Committee chair, Anntonette Zembrzuski Alberti, to organize a virtual festival. Susan was also the driving force behind this silent auction! With the help of author and journalist, Greg Archer, the team has pulled together more than 12 hours of festival fun, to be livestreamed on Facebook in real time starting at noon Saturday, June 13 and noon Sunday, June 14. The livestream will be available for free at Facebook.com\PolishFestNY.
PolishFest is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Blessed Virgin Mary of Czestochowa parish, so this online Silent Auction will help us recoup our losses and there is also a prominent DONATE button on the www.bvmc.org website.
