UFAHL Franchise Auction
Welcome to the UFAHL Franchise Auction — featuring 31 players who will become the faces of their franchises in this revolutionary AHL fantasy league.
The starting price (minimum bid) for these franchise auctions is $50 USD, with minimum increments of $5 USD. These franchise auctions will open this Sunday (December 13) and end next Sunday (December 20) — finishing five minutes apart over a three-hour window.
If bidding on multiple franchises, you’ll be assigned the first franchise player for which you emerge the winning bidder and all other bids for ongoing auctions will be removed. Upon winning an auction, please make arrangements for payment with Liz (lizj@uffsports.com). If not all franchises are sold on December 20, the remaining franchises will be available via direct sale for $50 USD.
Once all 31 franchises are sold, the UFAHL Draft will be scheduled — tentatively slated for Jan. 22-23 or Jan. 30-31 where UFAHL franchises will round out their rosters in addition to their franchise players. The draft order will be determined by a lottery process. It will be a snake draft with the number of rounds (roster sizes) yet to be finalized.
Players that aren’t owned heading into that draft will become property of those UFAHL franchises (whoever drafts them), while players that are already owned by scouts or UFHL franchises will be loaned to the UFAHL franchises with a portion of their fantasy earnings going to each player on their roster (50 % of payout to franchise, 50 % evenly distributed to all 23 players on the active roster at season’s end, with the same formula for the playoff payouts). That unique leasing system has been successfully utilized for the UFHL’s Klein Cup playoffs.
UFAHL franchises can also purchase those leased players from scouts at a negotiated price (minimum $25 USD) prior to or during the season.
The scoring system and fantasy gameplay for the UFAHL remains a work in progress, with more details to be announced ahead of the UFAHL Draft but will mirror the UFHL as closely as possible. The UFHL scoring system can be viewed here (though some categories may not be tracked by the AHL, thus that data may not be available to accommodate all the same categories for the UFAHL as the UFHL):
