Father Angel Time
About this item
Father Angel Time was inspired by the intentionality of Renaissance masters who used every element such as composition, setting, and symbolic detail to guide their audience through a narrative.
My work serves as a reminder of memento mori (latin phrase: remember you will die), thus I created it through the eyes of an artist in that era. I specifically adopted the visual language of the Protestant Reformation, a period where art was used to instruct faith and offer solace amidst mortality. Thus, in my work, the deliberate compositional choices contrast the setting of dense forest with a brighter landscape work together to frame a moment of transition. The dense forest represents fear and uncertainty while the light represents enlightenment and guidance. The angel represents divine guidance, suggesting that peace lies in trusting a larger plan. Overall, my work hopes to offer a gentle reassurance, finding peace in the natural order of things.
