Olly Read is an emerging artist from the state’s North-West Coast who’s practice explores themes influenced by their autobiographical experience of gender dysphoria, encompassing many different media including soft sculpture, video projection, stop-motion animation, ceramics and photography. Olly is currently in the final stages of completing their Masters of Fine Art (Research) at the University of Tasmania, having previously undertaken a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts with First Class Honours in 2019. For work produced during their undergraduate study they were awarded both the Contemporary Art Tasmania prize in 2018 and the Sawtooth Art Prize in 2019.
