Simon De Boer’s expanded painting practice is rich in colour, and often combines found images and objects with installation. The heart of their work is influenced by the ephemeral quality of associative memories, duration and felt sensations. Inquiring into how they are driven by external pressures and factors.

De Boer uses paint to create glazes and transparencies, entwining glossy surfaces with raw material, infused with colour and atmospheric light. Often thickly layered, their artwork reveals previous layers and ghosts of previous decisions, exposed through lucious globs of colour and texture. Simon’s installations are often enigmatic, immersive, and serialised. Using the interactivity of colour to create sensorial interplay between space and image. Interested in ambiguity, they create images and spaces which invite people to project their own selves; to bring their own memories and worldly journeys of all kinds.
