Olana Janfa was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, spent his teenage years in Norway and has lived in Australia since 2015. He started painting as a way to connect with his Ethiopian culture and create a deeper sense of home. Olana's spirited works are inspired by the Ethiopian Orthodox religious artwork of his childhood and often feature heart-warming images of women and children, along with various aspects of African life. Olana also draws inspiration from song lyrics, sport and popular culture. He paints on canvas, timber and various recycled and found materials using acrylic, oil and pastel.
