Norland Brae Farm Highland Cattle Sale 2025

After more than ten years raising registered highlands, we've made the difficult decision to disperse our fold. We have bulls, cows, heifers, and 2025 weaned calves available. All animals will be sold as registered unless otherwise indicated. At this time we are listing animals for sale at a set price but may move to an auction style sale in the fall.

Animals are available for viewing by appointment, please contact us to make arrangements. For those unable to visit in person, we are happy to address questions or send additional photographs. Reference pictures of the sires can be found on our website.

To purchase, you must first create an AirAuctioneer account with a verified email address and then register for this sale. Please take the time to read the Terms and Conditions listed below as they contain important information all Buyers need to be aware of.

Thank you for your interest in our highland cattle!

Auction terms and conditions

Sales are open to Canadian Buyers only; we are not prepared to navigate the steps required for export to the United States.

When you click to purchase an animal, an emailed requesting payment of a $1,000 deposit per animal by e-transfer will be sent to you from our farm. Until the sale is confirmed through receipt of an email from norland.brae@gmail.com, and the deposit is requested and received, we reserve the right to refuse any request to purchase.

Payment in full by e-transfer, bank draft, or with approval of the Seller cheque, is required before animals leave the farm. Should an animal's health status change after sale, the Buyer will be notified and have the right to forfeit the sale at which time the $1,000 deposit will be returned in full. We believe all animals to be healthy with any ailments disclosed, but there is no warranty on animals once they leave our farm. The date of transfer of ownership and registration will be the date of pick-up.

Most of the 2025 calves and cows cannot be picked up until November, after the calves are weaned. There will be no fee for holding any of the animals until the end of the year. As of January 1, 2026, a $100 per month per animal holding fee may be charged. Bred cows must be picked-up before January 31, 2026 or the buyer forfeits the right to purchase the animal(s) unless otherwise agreed to in writting by both parties.

Calves will be tattooed, treated with Ivomec, vaccinated (Tasvax 8) & boosted, and weaned before pickup unless otherwise indicated or requested by the Buyer. We hope to complete the registration process on each calf prior to pick-up, but some animals may be sold with registration pending. Norland Brae Farm, as the breeder, is responsible for all costs and processing of registration and transfer of ownership, including submission of any DNA samples for proof of parentage, where required.

All other animals (bred cows, bred heifers, 2024 heifers, and bulls) will be treated with Ivomec in the fall (September or October) unless otherwise requested by the Buyer.

Animals listed in the categories 'Bred Cow' or 'Bred Heifer' will be pasture exposed to the registered highland bull, STR Rioghail Ruadh ET, beginning June 5, 2025 with a planned date to pull the bull of around the end of August 2025. This means calving may start around March 14, 2026. Pregnancy is not guaranteed.

Sales are FOB Norland Brae Farm and the Buyer is responsible for all transport and inspection costs and logistics. Our farm is located about 2 hours north of Edmonton, Alberta with limited options for cost effective custom haulers. Please make sure you have given consideration to pick-up logistics before you buy.

We reserve the right to make changes to the sale items at any time prior to purchase. This includes the terms and conditions, animals available for purchase, prices, and other details.
