About the Artist
Ileigh is an emerging artist from Newcastle. Her work is a meditation on her immediate natural environment. In recent years, she has explored Glenrock State Conservation Reserve as her subject. Ileigh also treats landscape as a metaphor while she explores themes of mindfulness, meditation and spirituality.

Her interest in these particular themes in combination with her love of nature is expressed in her work in flattened picture planes that warp perspective, gum trees that appear to be able to walk or talk and other natural phenomena like large beaming yellow suns and moons. Her work is stylistically playful, dotted with references to abstraction that manifest in lucid colour and simplified and exaggerated forms.
Ileigh was awarded a Highly Commended for her work in the Glover Prize in 2020. She is represented by Curatorial and Co in Sydney, NSW and AK Bellinger Gallery in Inverell, NSW.
