About the Artist:
Diane (Di) Masters is a visual artist based in Hobart, Tasmania. She works as a
painter, printmaker and installation artist. She completed her Masters in Fine Arts and Design (printmaking) at the University of Tasmania, School of Fine Art.
Di and her husband David have been volunteer caretakers on Maatsuyker Island
twice, each time for six months, and they have both participated in several FOMI
working bees on the island.
‘Memories of Maatsuyker’ is one of several pieces inspired by Di’s experiences living on Maatsuyker and first exhibited at the Handmark Gallery in 2019. She brings to life the island’s wind-swept isolation through her strikingly raw hand-cut prints.
