"Ideas come to me as a fusion of interesting materials and construction processes. I never know where it will end up but I find myself drawn to the completion of the work by a mysterious attraction to create something new, something that I have not done before."

Damon McIntyre was born and raised in northeastern Ohio where he spent most of his childhood climbing trees and getting lost in the woods. He made his way across the country and into the great American desert where he met a friend and mentor who inspired him to pursue his passion for art and creative expression.

Damon has a degree in animation and an MFA in wood sculpture from Arizona State University. He is recipient of the Arizona State University Completion Fellowship, the Ed Moulthrop Fellowship in Craft, the Sam Maloof Scholarship, the Virginia Alpha Scholarship, the John and Robyn Horn Woodturning Fellowship, and an Individual Artist Grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. He is published in numerous books and magazines and received a Niche Award from the Rosen Group, publishers of American Craft Magazine.

Damon has held residencies at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Anderson Ranch. He taught Woodturning and Furniture Design at Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently instructor at Arizona State University.
