The 1970s represents the decade in which I was born. The idea of making a ‘Dress’ cake was something I have wanted to try for a while and it seemed like a good challenge, so I decided to base my cake design around 70s fashion. I thought the platform shoes would complement the dress and present a complete outfit from this decade.
My cake is made of Rice Crispie Treats for the bodice of the dress (so it’s not too heavy) and a marbled white chocolate mudcake for the skirt of the dress. The shoes are a combination of Pastillage, Gumpaste and Fondant - made of edible ingredients but inedible. They can however be kept as a memento.
