1960s – Elegance of the Arts (Inner South)

I have always been fascinated by the extravagance, the history and the cultural relevance of the prestigious Australian Ballet. In the early 2000s I learnt ballet at the Kim Harvey School of Dance in Canberra, where my love of traditional classical ballet began. The dance of ballet is a wonderful exercise for your body and mind, and studies have suggested that ballet combined with classical music has a positive impact on your memory. On a personal note, I believe the Australian Ballet represents the highest level of excellence in the arts, the company provides opportunities for dancers of the finest calibre to gain international recognition. The Australian Ballet was founded in 1962, it is the largest classical ballet company in Australia. My cake design presents the Australian Ballet through haute couture, it celebrates the talented craftspeople who create magic through costume and design. Next year the Australian Ballet will celebrate its 60th anniversary, in celebration they have announced a historic partnership with the fashion house of Chanel. My cake ‘Elegance of the Arts’ is in honour of my father, born 6 December 1962.
