Residing in Monterey, California, I am moved to paint and capture the essence of light and subject in the beauty I see in still life paintings and the landscapes of California. The light and atmosphere, solitude and peacefulness are similar in what we see and how we see it! It's funny when I view landscapes, I also see a still life as those traditions used in representational and classical-style painting for shape, design, value and form are similar for all art, moving across a seascape of rocks and waves, or as the light caresses and peeks in, out and through the objects in a still life painting. Most often I paint vintage objects, both familial and found, loving the beauty I see in the cracked and imperfect pieces as well as seeing the beauty of the light in landscapes before me.
