Mediums do have minds of their own. They do not always require the force
of human touch for navigation, and ink is one such unhinged substance. It has a lethal yet romantic relationship with water. At the slightest touch, ink explodes reactively and fails to resist the magnetic pull of water while its original chemical compounds dissolve, losing itself in the water.
The arbitrary, often violent stains and splodges of ink found in this mini-series are sometimes turned cartoonish and comedic with the layers of white paint. The deceptively messy abstractions become revelatory on closer inspection through the chalky texture and X-ray effect enhanced by the white oil paint, carving and contouring a story, and on other occasions, a strong emotional reaction the viewers are encouraged to decrypt.
While the pictures are flat, the paper is warped. Framing these items is the best solution if a completely flat surface is desired.
