The Story

Most listeners may not realize that this seemingly simple upbeat 80s love song by Modern English is actually about the end of the world. The lead singer explained, “It was about a couple making love as the bomb dropped. As they made love, they become one and melt together.”

Every generation fears it’s living in the last days. While we wait and see if the world is going to end, let’s do something productive with our time.

My art makes people happy. If that’s all it accomplishes, it’s enough for me.

But in the “Art World,” it’s not enough. Art is supposed to make a political statement, disturb people, or question everything they hold true. Well, I believe that putting good into the world and bringing a small measure of joy to a fellow human is pretty good, too.

Which brings me back to this song about apocalyptic hanky panky.

What’s ONE thing can you do to make someone’s day a teeny bit brighter?

It might not seem like much, but it’s enough.

Regardless of when the world ends, we all have a last day coming. If I make someone happy on mine, I’m good with that. How about you?
