Nyssa is a special one. Late born, but also born to a dam with no milk. We had every attention of bottle feeding, but she insisted on stealing instead. From a cow, that probably should have been nursing only one calf. So we supplemented her with creep. Normally, we don't like to creep feed - preferring to be able to evaluate a dam's ability to bring in a good calf on milk and grass alone. 

So, while being a little light, Nyssa is put together beautifully. Her genetic dam, Bronwyn of Highland Heritage is stunning. Large-framed, balanced - our ideal cow. She has raised many calves and has a good udder, but we must have missed some sub-clinical mastitis and the teats scarred over, unfortunately.
