Waterberg Wild Dog Conservation Auction
The Waterberg Wild Dog Initiative (WWDI) is a non-profit company dedicated to conserving African wild dogs in the Waterberg, South Africa. The WWDI works alongside the community to enhance understanding and promote the conservation of the African wild dog population in the region.
African wild dogs are an Endangered species due to habitat loss, habitat fragmentation, disease, and conflict with humans. There are fewer than 650 African wild dogs remaining in South Africa, mainly occurring within the bounds of formally-protected landscapes.
The Waterberg population is one of South Africa's last free-ranging African wild dog populations. The Waterberg Wild Dogs range across formally unprotected landscapes, facing a multitude of threats to their survival, including persecution, snaring, and road collisions. The WWDI works to conserve them by collecting data on the population, providing education, raising awareness, boosting the dogs' ecotourism potential, and mitigating threats to their survival.
Funds raised from this online auction help support the WWDI's work to conserve free-ranging African wild dogs in the Waterberg.
EXCITING NEWS - Donations are being matched for this fundraiser, up to R100,000, meaning any donations made will have DOUBLE the impact!
