02. Washstand
About this item
Tall washstand made of wood, with a medium colour varnish that has worn down in many spots. A rectangular mirror is at head height, with two metal coat hooks mounted in the wood on each side of it. There is a hollow section below the mirror, and below that is the platform for the wash basin. This platform has a hinge that allows it to open upwards, revealing a storage space underneath. There are hollow sections to each side of the basin platform, which line up with metal bowls inserted in the base of the stand, perhaps for standing umbrellas in.
