From emerging photographer JR Boulton’s debut exhibition Moments of Being, ‘Dinner’ captures a fleeting, quietly humorous moment of everyday intimacy—balancing tenderness, anticipation and subtle storytelling.

Boulton’s work is defined by an instinct for the in-between: those unscripted moments that feel both deeply personal and universally recognisable. The composition is simple yet evocative, allowing gesture and body language to carry the emotional weight.

This print comes from the personal collection of Samuel Johnson, acquired at Boulton’s first exhibition in Thornbury, Victoria (June 2025), marking an early point in the artist’s career.
