This incredible set of three platters were painstakingly made by hot working molten glass to make individual scales. Each scale is crated by applying color while the glass is hot, then manipulating it to flatten and to take on the pattern of reptiliian skin. Once all of the scales are created they are placed precisely together, and then heated in an oven into the become one. After the piece is removed the edges are ground and polished, and the piece is placed once again in the oven to slump into the curved forms.
