Commentary: As an artist, I have always loved the play of light on buildings, water and the human form. I'm passionate about painting and drawing, and finding a language of marks that express what I feel emotionally when I look at a subject. I worked with oil paint and brushes for many years, training at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, but in the last few years I’ve been making digital drawings, of which this is one. The digital medium allows for a balance between precision, and spontaneity or living in the moment. I’ve always loved Venice, and I loved trying to capture the intense and uplifting beauty of this unique watery environment.
