Since a profound love of the sea, being in it and on it, is something that I feel I would have shared with Sophie had I known her better, it seemed right that the sea would be my focus. The sea is such a capricious element. In its myriad ever changing moods, it seduces both visually and viscerally. My painting for Sophie seeks to replicate the benign tranquillity of sunlit summer shallows.
