Pei said: "my work endeavours to convey the repetitive cycle, impact, and abusive culture of greyhound racing. I have chosen to paint a large-scale portrait of a greyhound to connect with the viewer and ground the work.
In preparation for my body of work, I visited and photographed greyhounds living in rescue kennels in NSW. My artwork is dedicated to the 18,000 greyhounds that are killed in Australia every year and the volunteers who work tirelessly to save their lives. "
About the Artist
Pei is a truly exceptional young woman and an avid lover of greyhounds, including her own special rescue hound, Rick.
Pei's talent is not limited to visual arts. In 2022 she received early entry to study Engineering and Medical Science at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Pei is a long-time supporter of Greyhound Rescue. When Premier Mike Baird reversed his decision to ban greyhound racing in 2016, she raised $400 for Greyhound Rescue in lieu of presents for her 13th birthday

About Greyhound Rescue
Greyhound Rescue ethically rescues, lovingly rehabilitates, and safely rehomes greyhounds; giving them a voice through advocacy and education. Greyhound Rescue is the largest independent greyhound rehoming organisation in Australia, and the only independent greyhound rehoming organisation in NSW with its own kennel facility. We have over 13 years’ experience and expertise in greyhound welfare and rehoming.
