Landscape painter Angus Douglas was born in Melbourne (1975) and now lives in Perth, Tasmania. A seasoned bushwalker and former hiking guide, Douglas’s passion for the Tasmanian wilderness is acutely evident in his work. Whilst realist in his painting method, Douglas concentrates on the abstraction of massed, multiplied textures i.e. fabric of vegetation to create abstraction with impressionist brushwork
Douglas has been three time finalist in distinguished landscape Glover Prize (2012, 2016 and 2017). In 2016 he was a recipient of a Glover Prize Highly Commended Award. The last decade has seen Douglas present eight solo exhibitions and acquisitions of his work have come not only from Australia but the United States and Asia.
