1 x VIOGNIER 2018 A finely made and balanced white wine with lively lemon acidity.

2 x MENCIA ROSE 2021. A Spanish medium body variety; this Mencìa is a savoury wine with red fruit flavours, blueberries and plums.

2 X MENCIA 2020 A juicier version of the classic Spanish pinot noir.

1 x SYRAH 2018. With bright red fruit, savoury spice and pepper overtones this deep red wine is smooth in texture and taste. Excellent drinking now or will cellar well.

It’s early days for Mencia in Australia, but here is a grape that can make not just lovely aromatic light reds, but also rosé. I drank a heap in northern Spain about 8 years ago and so it feels exciting to see it in Australia. This Quartz Hill, from Pyrenees fruit, feels very Euro too – pale orange coloured, it’s delicate, creamy and velvety thing with a strawberries and cream generosity to it. It’s light, and the bottle age has faded the fruit, but the savoury elegance makes this interesting for drinking right. 92/100.

2018 Quartz Hill Viognier

A light to golden yellow in colour with a nose of apricot kernel, straw and faint citrus. The palate has a savoury and citrus backbone that gives great texture and balance when contrasted by creamier apricot and yellow peach; there is a gentle spice and understated lemon curd aspect to finish. A very well made Viognier that balances primary fruit and texture. Wine Rating 91/100 WineReviewer.com
