About this item
Hibiscus is the national flower of South Sudan commonly used to make a tea associated with various health benefits for the heart, blood and liver. The pouring paint technique was chosen to reflect nature and culture flowing through shared cups of tea and pumping in people's hearts.

About the artist
Abouk Giir is a self taught artist. Her initial interest in art and painting began whilst at high school, and she says "I found freedom in expressing myself as a female artist here in Australia". She returned to painting as an adult and continues to enjoy her art.
"My artwork is inspired by nature, my culture/heritage, my family and my friends. I enjoy experimenting with techniques and materials. I find joy in colours and patterns."
