Indian Pangolin
About this item
The WWF India reports that the major threats pertaining to the Indian Pangolin, or the Thick Tailed Pangolin, are human operations such as poaching (for both consumption and trade). It is believed that the pangolin is the most illegally traded animal in the world, with media reports suggesting that South East Asia alone, between 2009 and 2013, illicitly traded over 5,000kg of pangolin scales.
Remaining in the wild: unknown.
This papier-mâché art piece was carefully crafted by Silk Laundry Brisbane Store Manger Carla Binotto, using recycled paper from old Silk Laundry magazines and chicken wire.
When Katie Kolodinski came up with the Endangered Species capsule she wanted to spread awareness about some of the critically endangered animals and plants living in our ecosystem. With these pieces, we want to raise awareness that the loss of a species also points to bigger issues within our interconnected ecosystems. By purchasing this item, understand that 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Fauna and Flora International, a charity dedicated to saving endangered wildlife.
