About the artwork: "The last voyage of Admiral Zheng in 1433 marked the end of China’s exploration of the seas. And yet my neighborhood is inundated with  cardboard and almost all of the boxes say “Made in China.” Years ago, I  had my own boat and I would sail past the massive cargo ships in Long  Beach, mesmerized by the scale, and I began to wonder and then discovered later that the first commercially successful container ship was the Ideal X, which carried 58 metal containers between Newark, New  Jersey and Houston, Texas on its maiden voyage in 1956. It was then  that I decided to build my own version of a Panama class cargo ship  with each container holding cargo from worldly ports of call from North  Korea to Nova Scotia."
