Dorothy Ward is the daughter of Pulpurru Davies and spends her time between Warburton and Patjarr. Dorothy is an accredited interpreter and has long been actively involved in land, heritage, education, arts and cultural projects in the Ngaanyatjarra region. Dorothy's artwork graces the cover of the Ngaanyatjarra Picture Dictionary and she continues to gain recognition for her artwork and strong contribution to community development.
This piece tells the Dreaming of two men who travelled through the Western Desert from the Kimberley to South Australia.
Dorothy Ward paints for Warakurna Artists through the Kayili Artists Outreach Program it runs out of Patjarr Community. Dorothy is a gifted storyteller and interpreter, and during a storytelling workshop in 2017 to document Ngaanyatjarra oral histories for the Ngurra Project, Dorothy conveyed several key narratives on these impressive works on paper, including reference to the Wati Kutjarra (Two Men) creation story.
