About this item
Gingerbeer brewed in 2015, with a malt base, using ginger and other botanicals including citrus. Fermented with two yeast strains, both Champagne and brewing. Matured in a 200l ex-Apera barrel for 6 months. The gingerbeer has been packaged as a separate project.
2.5 year old Apera cask STARWARD was finished for 8 months this barrel.
This release has refined the balance between the ginger and the rest of the whisky, leaving a beautifully complex liquid.
Marzipan, orange and rosewater lead the aroma with a strong spicy ginger kick, balanced sweet sultana notes. A big, warming mouthfeel with candied citrus, ginger and a long, spicy finish.
