Wooden Shrine Box to Commemorate Toki - Lovingly created by Lisa Blohm (#109)

Description: Lovingly decorated, wooden shrine/devotional box to honor, hold close and never forget  Sk'ali Ch'elh-tenaut / Tokitae. 

Lovingly hand crafted by artist Lisa Allison Blohm

Adornments on front, back and sides include printed Tokitae art work by Lisa Allison Blohm (front and side) and actual black and white photocopies with water color highlights of Tokitae (and two of Hugo 1 next to Toki and 1 with butterfly on rostrum) on the back. Other embellishments were chosen to represent her native relatives, pretty flowers & pretty colors. 

One on the left side of shrine you will find a dedication to Tokitae and the other 6 Southern Residents Orcas captured on 8/8/1970 that died in captivity as well. 

On the other side you will find a final farewell for Toki to "Rest in Peace and swim free."

Lisa Allison Blohm Art:

Lisa is a wildlife artist who lives on the Salish Sea. "Through my work, I strive to illustrate the joy and harmony found in nature, or to share my subject's story, as well as to inspire action and passion for the current plight of many of our species. Living on and near the Salish Sea my entire life, I have a special place in my heart for the marine animals and birds that inhabit this special region of our world. 

The Salish Sea and all of its species inspire me to paint and I have really just begun.  Basically, I have been given the gift of endless inspiration! Painting these species has brought me even closer to them. My hope is that my art will bring you closer to them as well and thus amplify their voice.

About my Orca works: The first Orca I painted was Tokitae. She then inspired me to paint 7 paintings in a series I called "Dreaming of a Free Tokitae." Most of the Orcas depicted in my paintings are representations of individuals from the Southern Resident Orca pods. Because they  bring me so much joy & inspiration, I feel it is only fair that I give some of my proceeds to those nonprofits that are helping them. So, I donate a percentage of my proceeds from sales of Orca prints, cards and posters to both Orca Network and the Center for Whale Research.
