Ken Balcomb's signature plaid jacket, size Large

Value - priceless 

Ken Balcomb, founder of Orca Survey and the Center for Whale Research, who with Mike Bigg began the photo identification of Resident orcas in the 1970s, and continued his research until his death in December 2022, knew the Southern Resident orcas like no one else, and worked and advocated for them like no one else. 

If you knew Ken, or watched him in any interviews, documentaries, or events, you likely saw him in this or one of his many plaid jackets just like this one. It was Ken's "signature" fashion, and this one was lovingly worn by Ken doing all the things he did, from research out with the whales, to fixing boats and mowers to fixing whatever needed fixed. So it has a little tear in one arm, and signs of loving wear by the man we all loved so much.

The brand is Moose Creek, it has a quilted lining, and is machine washable. It must fit the bill for outdoor wear and boating wear, as Ken can be seen wearing this very jacket in films from the 70s on!
