2024 Calendar of Elsie Mae the Elephant Seal by local photographer Marlene Bocast.
Marlene Bocast is an East Coast transplant who has lived in Anacortes for six years where she discovered her passion for nature. As a volunteer for the Central Puget Sound Marine Mammals Stranding Network, she has spent four years educating the public about elephant seals and keeping Elsie Mae and her pup, Emerson, out of mischief. “Gaining the trust of a wild animal is an incredible experience.”
