Ben Barwick (b. 1994) is a non-binary, multi-disciplinary artist residing in Launceston, Tasmania. Their artwork focuses heavily on the visualisation of the non-visual, usually in relation to their visceral relationship with noise, sound and music; a nod to their history as a musician. They have recently extended their work towards material experimentation, adopting their previous knowledge of photography and film to play with light as a figure in space.
Barwick has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Univeristy of Tasmania. They have appeared in multiple group shows including three iterations of the Minds Do Matter exhibition, and they were part of the major artwork Soliloquy shown at Junction Arts Festival in 2019. They won the Underground ArtPrize in May 2020 for their work 130.81hz (Stillness in C).
Barwick is a current board member at Sawtooth ARI in Launceston, and an intern with RANT Arts in Devonport.
