Kate O’Sullivan’s every waking minute is consumed by popular culture, born and raised on the island state of Tasmania, starved for entertainment and [filtered word] after any form of alternative sub-culture she turned to popular media; books, TV, music and films just to feel alive. Gifted with a love of portraiture that some would say borders on obsession, the two loves naturally collided and with a complete absence of anything else in her life this compulsion grew into a flourishing art practice. Kate obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the university of Tasmania in 2021 with the intention of completing honours in 2022. Her work embraces portraiture and celebrates popular culture through a range of materials but most importantly oil paint and palette knives. Always experimenting, always learning and always portraits, Kate takes what she loves about the world and immortalises it through the wonders of visual art.
