13 year old student Spencer Thorne, lives in Melbourne and was in lockdown for 243 days total, including 14 days in the Howard Springs Quarantine facility. He added colourful illustrations to the plain white organic cotton poplin proto sample he was given to upcycle.

Spencer Thorne: I like drawing with lots of bright colours

TMM: Tell us about what you do that defines being a creative to you.
ST: Using your imagination

TMM: What creative pursuits, little rituals, or things to look forward to, helped you to keep going during lockdown?
ST: Not sure

TMM: Your illustrations of birds are amazing. Tell us how you began to illustrate and take inspiration from nature?
ST: On a trip to nz a couple of years ago I started learning about birds and drawing them, like the kiwi and the kakapo.

TMM: When the world opens back up, what is the first thing you would love to do?
ST: Go to my friends' houses and go and see my grandparents in England with my dad.
