About this item
SHONA WILSON
Feather field No.2
feathers
57 x 57 x 8 cm (framed)
With a career spanning over two decades, Shona Wilson continues to engage with permutations of the natural world in her intricate, awe-inspiring assemblages. Often focussing on the bypassed and the unseen, Wilson amplifies and decontextualizes the micro to draw attention to the wonders of ostensibly ‘insignificant’ elements of the everyday. Wilson has been the recipient of notable residencies and scholarships, including the Omi International Artists Residency, New York, and the Travelling Scholarship, Noosa Regional Gallery, QLD. She was a finalist in the Blake Prize (2004) and Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize (2003), and her work is held in important collections such as Macquarie Bank, Artbank, Shepparton and Stanthorpe Regional Gallery, Macquarie University Art Gallery and Manly Art Gallery & Museum.
Shona Wilson has chosen to donate 100% of the proceeds from this work to the Nature Conservation Council of New South Wales, Australia.
As the state’s leading environmental advocacy organisation, their mission is to protect nature in NSW and create the conditions it needs to thrive. For more than 60 years, they have been at the centre of the state’s most important conservation battles and have notched up countless wins for wildlife, bushland, marine life, and local communities. They run campaigns, mobilise communities, and advocate passionately for the protection of unique wildlife and bushland. They also play a leading role in fire policy, education, and ecology through their Healthy Ecosystems Program.
