Reading Parties are a unique virtual event where you get to read an excerpt of a brand new book WITH the author. You'll also get a chance to ask questions and, if you've pre-ordered the book, get it signed. They're small, intimate events and a real opportunity to get to know some amazing authors. This year they have hosted bestselling authors including TM Logan and Clare Mackintosh to name but a few.

How does it work?

Sign up for a reading party as a reader and will send you an invite to the meeting and a short extract from a chapter. That’s the section you’re going to read at the event. You’ll also be able to see the section that comes immediately before yours. After a few introductions, the author will be invited to start the reading. Together, we’ll read the whole extract and afterwards we’ll be able to chat about it together.

A bit scary? Not really, once we get going. And afterwards there’s a chance to get a bookplate for the book personally signed.

So I can come to a party and buy a book? How does that work?

At the end of each party, the author will sign bookplates for people who’ve bought a book. If you want them to write something special in it, now’s the time. After the party the author sends the bookplates to Bert’s Books, our online retailer, and they’re sent out with the bookplates. Because this is a complicated operation, it can take up to a couple of weeks for the book to arrive, but we promise, it’s worth the wait!
