What lies behind the reflection?

There is a discrepancy in the reflections shown on the water surface where the lotuses are not reflected, breaking up the symmetrical composition of the artwork and expressing the idea of hidden feelings. The glistening water surface that glows warmly acts as a metaphor for a perfect facade that one may present themself with, as a form of protection over delicate emotions, unrepresentative of the feelings that "bloom" within.
