Michael Rowland is one of Australia’s most respected journalists, best known for co-hosting ABC’s News Breakfast (2010–2024). Previously, as ABC’s North American correspondent, he covered major global events, including Barack Obama’s election and the 2007–08 financial crisis. More recently, he presented live coverage of the 2020 and 2024 U.S. presidential elections for News Breakfast.
After nearly 15 years on the show, Michael stepped down in 2024 to explore new opportunities and is set to return to the ABC later this year for exciting new projects.
Beyond journalism, he’s a dedicated Western Bulldogs fan and a passionate supporter of Australian live music—you might even spot him at a Midnight Oil or You Am I gig!
