Casey Coolwell-Fisher is a proud Quandamooka woman of the Nunukul people from Minjerribah/Tjerrangerri (North Stradbroke Island).

Casey is a valued supporter of Aboriginal Art Co. She has stocked her products with us since we opened our retail store, and Casey has had a solo exhibition in our Vault Gallery.

Casey is the co-founder of CHABOO, a home décor and design business she runs with her partner, Roy Fisher. Through CHABOO, Casey blends cultural storytelling with contemporary design, specializing in graphic illustrations, hand-painted art, and murals. Her work provides a unique platform for sharing the powerful narratives of her people through visually captivating creations.

In April 2023, Casey presented her exhibition Beneath the Ripples at Aboriginal Art Co. This deeply personal body of work explored Minjerribah/Tjerrangerri’s sea creatures and the waters they inhabit, offering a glimpse into her cultural heritage. The exhibition not only highlighted Casey’s artistic talent but also served as a way for her to teach her son about the significance of these creatures, underscoring the importance of passing down knowledge through generations. Her designs can be found in the gallery, where they continue to share the rich stories of her people.
