Rare Cricket Memorabilia - signed team sheet of 1948 'Invincibles' Australian Test Team and signed playing schedule by 1960/61 West Indies players
About this item
In 1948 Sir Donald Bradman led the Australian test cricket team on his last tour of England. They played 34 games and didn’t lose a single one, earning them the moniker of “The Invincibles” and etching themselves into the annals of Australian sporting history. On their way to England, they signed this. Faded, but never forgotten.
Framed and accompanied by a signed playing schedule of the 1960/61 West Indies test team, including Sir Frank Worrell.
Funny story, During the sea journey to England, the players were required to sign autographs on 5,000 team sheets. I guess Sid Barnes had other things in mind for his time, and had a stamp of his signature made, then paid a young boy in drinks to deal with the sheets for him, but he landed himself in trouble with captain Don Bradman and manager Keith Johnson when the boy stamped the sheets erratically, sometimes not adjacent to Barnes's position on the team list - see photo, lol.
