Artist Bio
Pradeep Chandrasiri is a distinguished visual artist and production designer with over two decades of experience in art scenography. His work is deeply influenced by his autobiographical memories of political violence in Sri Lanka during the 1980s. Chandrasiri is recognized as part of the '90s Trend,’ a Sri Lankan art movement that introduced a new ideological position influenced by contemporary practices and social contexts.

Chandrasiri holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Kelaniya (1997) and a Master of Arts History from the Post Graduate Institute of Archaeology, University of Kelaniya (2011). Chandrasiri has participated in numerous local and international art programmes, including the second Fukuoka Asian Art Triennial in Japan (2002) and the Colombo Art Biennale (2009). He received the Commonwealth Art and Craft Award in 2003, which facilitated his participation in a visiting artist programme at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Notably, he has also designed award-winning theatre sets for Sri Lanka’s National Theatre Festival.
