Creative Writing Workshop about Writing and Play with Penni Russon

Penni will come and run a writer's workshop at your school at a mutually convenient time. Particularly recommended for current Year 12 VCE English students doing the writing about play study design, which includes Penni's story 'All That We Know of Dreaming' for SAC or exam preparation. However, play is a theme that is relevant to children (and adults!) of all ages, and this workshop can be tailored to any group.

Bio: Penni Russon has been in the Australian children's and young adult publishing industry for over 20 years as an editor, author and academic. Her first novel Undine was published in 2004, and since then she's published 11 novels for young people, published by some of Australia's biggest publishers including Allen & Unwin and Penguin Random House, as well as a selection of short stories in publications like Kill Your Darlings, The Big Issue and Best Australian Stories. From 2012, she turned her attention to the problem of youth engagement in online mental health treatments, collaborating with illustrators and psychologists to develop 100s of comics for young people for use in mental health, and creating new jobs for creative professionals in the health care sector. Penni is currently a senior lecturer in literary studies and creative writing at Monash University.
