#65 Framed Historical Massage Physician Prints & Photograph

Matted and framed artwork of historical persons who influenced the use of massage for health and pain management. Four appear to be drawings and are signed R. Morden. I am assuming they are prints. Name plate under each drawing gives information on the physician in the drawing. Dr. S. Weir Mitchell, Introduced massage therapy to US in 1870. Ambroise Pare, French "barber-surgeon" 1510-1590, who wrote of the positive effects of massage in the healing process. Galen (131 - 210 AD), Roman physician who wrote 16 books on the benefits of massage and exercise to treat injury and disease. Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839) developed "Swedish Movement" system of passive & active movement. Photograph of Dr. Janet Travell, white house physician who specialized in pain management and co-authored a book on trigger points in pain management. All frames are 12-1/2" x 15-1/2".
