Condition report:

Publisher's original green cloth covers with bright gilt titles. Covers show some spots of lightening. 2 corners rubbed through. Previous owner inscription to front pastedown. Rear hinge is starting but binding remains sound. 320 pages.

Why It Matters:

We're fond enough of this book to have done a reprint of it. Of course, we wouldn't have needed a reprint if it wasn't so hard to find. Early revised editions are scarce. First editions are rare, especially in this condition.

The Dixon story, of course, is important because Dixon's life was that of a true pioneer Texan. His life of adventure began early on and his stories of life as a plainsman, scout and buffalo hunter are the stuff of frontier legend. But Dixon's life as an Indian fighter is what landed him a Medal of Honor and a rare spot in Texas history. You already know Billy for his one-in-a-million shot at the Second Battle of Adobe Walls. That story is the cherry on top of an otherwise fascinating life, well-recorded on these pages.
