About this item

Baby Jellyfish Chain | Pennie Jagiello
Recycled Electrical Wire, Mint hues
60cm

Delicate, intricate and entirely one-of-a-kind, ‘Baby Jellyfish Chain’ is a wearable artwork by Melbourne-based contemporary jeweller Pennie Jagiello.

Hand-formed from reclaimed vintage Telecom wire, the chain flows in an organic network of looping forms that evoke tiny drifting jellyfish. Its soft tones (mint) create a light, sculptural presence, allowing the piece to sit beautifully as both jewellery and contemporary art. Designed with versatility in mind, it can be worn as a single long strand or doubled for a layered look.

Jagiello’s work is deeply rooted in sustainability and environmental reflection. She works exclusively with found and discarded human-made materials, such as vintage electrical wire, threads and plastics, never purchasing new resources. Each piece is shaped by the unique behaviour of the materials themselves, presenting both creative challenges and opportunities for transformation.

Through contemporary jewellery, Jagiello explores the lasting environmental impacts of human consumption and the abundance of materials we discard. By reclaiming and reworking these objects, she creates pieces that invite conversation about value, waste, memory and the era of the Anthropocene.

"Diamonds are forever, so too is anthropogenic debris, which defines in our short existence the era and errors of the Anthropocene."

Jagiello’s work has been exhibited nationally across craft and design galleries as well as alternative art spaces.

‘Baby Jellyfish Chain’ is a striking example of her thoughtful practice, a sculptural, sustainable piece that carries both beauty and meaning.

A distinctive work of contemporary wearable art.
